Prom night is probably one of the most important nights in a young girl’s life! There are so many things to arrange, the dress, the accessories, the shoes and most importantly, the hairstyle! There are five main things to consider when choosing prom hairstyles. You must take into account hair length, dress type, ease of style, functionality, and comfort. In order to enjoy your prom and not have to spend the night maintaining your hair, you must find the style that works best for you. Hairspray and pins can only do so much.
The first thing to consider is your hair length. If you have three feet of hair, it is probably not going to fit into a small bun. On the other hand, if your hair is shoulder length, you may not be able to sweep it all up into a fancy up do. If you have the longer style to contend with, you may want to consider curls or fancy braids. A number of celebrities have been seen using a partly braided style. Long ringlets have always been in fashions as well.
Next you should consider the style of dress you will be wearing. If you have chosen a beautiful backless number, you probably won’t want to cover it with your hair. On the other hand, if you have gone with a plain back that zips up it may not be such a big deal. Usually a rule of thumb is that if a dress is high collar or low back, sweep your hair up. If you choose an off the shoulder or sleeveless, leave it down and show off your locks.
You will also want to consider the ease of your style. Do you plan to spend the afternoon in the beauty shop or would you rather be doing it yourself at home? If you choose the second option, then you may want to consider the tools needed to provide the look you are seeking. If you are in need of ringlets but don’t have hot rollers, it may be best to call the stylist or go to a saloon.
When choosing which style to use, two of the most important aspects are functionality and comfort. You will want to choose a style that can hold up during the most physical dance, but at the same doesn’t give you a headache form all the pins and devices. The main two complaints are that the style falls apart too soon or that you suffer hours of pain just to keep it in place. The best thing to do with any style is try it out at least once before your fateful night. Have the stylist’s fix you up, and then enjoy a fun day of shopping for the perfect dress. You not only get to match the style to the dress, but after all those fitting rooms, you will know if you have chosen a durable style.
