Ants can be a big problem specially if they come out in large numbers. While there are many way to get rid of ants, but in most cases following the basics to avoid the ants by not attracting them is just enough. How not to attract and invite ants in your home – Start with keeping your house clean, if you don’t have food lying there on the table, thrown in the floor etc. the ants will lose interest in searching food around your house. Remember, a small particle of sugar is sufficient for the ants to lurk around. Also, sometimes you will find a single ant roming around, they are scouts looking for food, make sure you kill it other wise more of those will follow. Start sealing the holes in the floor, roof or walls; they are the source or the entry point of the ants. I have heard that baby powder works great to keep ants away, try it.
How not to attract ants in your garden – Start with cleaning your garden, remove old dead plants, remove wood materials etc. all these attracts ants a lot. Start spraying Gamaxine powder on the garden pots and the soil. Remember, this can potentially damage the plants. The best way to do is to start digging the soil’s top layer and start adding Gamaxine powder to it and keep it for a day. Repeat this process a few times a week. Keep your drains clean, your dustbin closed and do not allow water to stand anywhere in garden or in drain.

- Ant traps – mix honey and some insecticides in small bottles and leave them near the places where you find ants.
- Kill the queen – ants have queens, which keep producing more and more ants, it usually lives deep down the ants holes. Try to kill it and the rest of the ants will go automatically.
- Spray insecticides – I prefer Gamaxine, it works well.
- Baby Powder – put some baby powder on the entry points of the ants, it should work.
- Kill the ant holes – find out ant holes in your garden and put insecticides or boiling water in it.
While there might be may ways to get rid of ants, however like every other bugs, ants also do not prefer clean places to live. Stay clean and keep clean, ants will find another place soon.
