Cholesterol can be viewed as the energy, which our cells need to normally function. Cholesterol can be found in every wall of every cells walls and membranes of our body. It is almost everywhere in a sense. They can be found in the brain, arteries, intestines, liver, and tissue. It can be described as a waxy substance on the walls of every cell. Its main function serves as the one responsible for the production of Vitamin D and bile acids in one’s body. The vitamin D it produces helps make the bone stronger, while the bile acids on the other hand burn fats.

In a sense, cholesterol in general is a helpful substance that makes one in tip-top shape. The only problem with this is when there is what you call high level of cholesterol residing in ones body. Complications from this condition arise and can result to mortality if not for the general health of a person. If one has high cholesterol in ones body, this substance can build up in ones arteries thus can block the passage of the blood and may result to cardiac arrest.

It is therefore important to know the level of cholesterol so that any risk to one’s health can be prevented. Yet, the only symptoms of high cholesterol in one’s body can be seen on the end result. This means that one can only know when one has a high level of cholesterol in his body when there are already damage or diseases present in his body.

High cholesterol level may be known if there is high deposit of it in the tendon and skin, which normally can be checked by a physician. There may also be abdominal pain if one already is experiencing pancreatitis. Though for those who have lipid disorders, high cholesterol level can be seen easily because there are yellow streaks in their skin or formation of nodules in the hands or feet.
